Falcon is made from repurposed lumber that was used in our local public library. One day, I discovered a pile of beautiful rough beams lying in the woods behind the building. These beams were probably milled specifically for the library’s original construction and were removed during recent renovations. The boards ranged in size from 2"x6" to 3"x8", rough and full of character.

I thought they were very beautiful and knew I could make something nice with them.

I asked permission and trucked them to my studio. I created this piece, along with Stoic using this wood. I used a wood sealer on this sculpture so that it still looks natural and shows off its rustic wood quality.

The design itself is whimsical and very lightheaded, yet has a very strong commanding presence with angles gutting up into the air.
